2.2.22 Worldwide Duet Dance

Join URBAN-15 as they participate in a Worldwide event!

WHY A WORLDWIDE DUET DANCE ?

The intention of this dance is for women around the world to connect. Each pair of women will connect with each other, while at the same time connecting with all the other women performing the dance on the same day. Our intention is to have 222 dancers performing the same dance. The dance is also about attunement: connecting in these divisive times. Showing to all cultures, to the world, that women know how to connect and be together. We do this through the universal language of dance. We dance for connection with each other and we dance to connect in gratitude with our beautiful planet.

WHY FEBRUARY 2 ?

February 2 is a date celebrated in many cultures: Saint Brigid’s Day (traditional Gaelic festival), Groundhog Day (USA), Candlemas (Christian tradition), the goddess Jemamja’s birthday (Brazil, Cuba), Setsubun (Japan), the Cross-Quarter Day in the Celtic Calendar (Imbolc in the Northern Hemisphere and Samhain in the Southern Hemisphere), Dia de la Candelaria (Mexico, Peru), Segundo de Febrero (Mexico/Texas), and the second day of the Chinese New Year and of Seollal, the Korean Lunar New Year.

In addition to all the celebrations, I love that the date contains only twos and zeros. It is 02.02.22. And this is the same date whether you put the month first, as we do in the USA, or you put the day of the month first and then the month, and then the year.

WHERE ?

On Zoom!

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Who can join the dance?

Women from around the world. The more the merrier, with a limit of 111 pairs. All dancers will be on their own computer/device (not together on one camera).
