As part of our annual Josiah Media Festival, URBAN-15 is offering free online filmmaking workshops for middle and high school youth! These workshops are free and can be viewed on our website OR on our Facebook.
On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of November 2-6, join us at 10am and 1pm for an animation workshop hosted by Erica Missey, a working artist who has used drawing as a stepping stone into animation. Missey was a principal animator for the blockbuster animated film Space Jam and currently works as a caricaturist, children’s book illustrator, and drummer/vocalist for the metal/grunge trio Hellgrimm.
Tune in for her insights into becoming an animator and for some stellar animated shorts by previous Josiah Media Festival winners. Remember, workshops are FREE and can be viewed either on our website or on the URBAN-15 Facebook page.
This year, URBAN-15’s Carnaval de San Anto transforms into Carnaval de los Muertos for a very special performance in honor of All Saints Day and All Souls Day. This annual performance ritual combines traditional Mexican culture and URBAN-15’s Brazilian and Portuguese dance and rhythms, resulting in a presentation that pays tribute to and celebrates our passed loved ones. The performance will be take place on Friday, October 30th at 7pm CST on KSAT news!
With the reality that it will be impossible to use any previous model to shape this year’s festival, the 2020 JOSIAH MEDIA FESTIVAL will offer the student and world-wide audiences a new, totally online experience of workshops and festival screenings.
The JMF-2020 workshops will begin on October 19, 2020 with daily screenings of the workshop materials for students to view in the most appropriate timeframes. These fifty-minute presentations are scheduled for both on-site and at-home students throughout Bexar County and Texas.
