URBAN-15’s Summer of 50th Anniversary celebrations kick off this July with a series of community events commemorating the art and history of the long-standing arts nonprofit.
These festivities will commence with “Images of Motion”, a photo exhibition of URBAN-15’s evolution as an experimental performance ensemble presented by Ramin Samandari of Magical Realism Studio. The exhibition will focus on the motion dynamics captured by San Antonio photographers Ramin Samandari, Al Rendon, Todd Johnson, Antonio Cisneros, Mike Greenberg, Pedro Luna, and Michael Jay Smith. Exhibited visuals will include stills and videos of URBAN-15 performances 1974 – present day. The event will take place July 13th 6-9PM.
Celebrations will continue on July 20th with a reunion mixer hosted at URBAN-15 studios from 4-8PM. The mixer is meant to celebrate the hard work and dedication by all who have worked with the group. Past participants of Carnaval de San Anto, Mega Corazón, Josiah Media Festival, Cultivation, and all other URBAN-15 performance programs are invited! This event marks a milestone for the organization and commemorates the hard work and dedication by all who have worked with URBAN-15 to reach this goal.
URBAN-15’s 50th Anniversary Celebrations will culminate the following day, July 21st from 4-8pm with a “Semi-Centennial Celebration” reunion party. We invite the community, longtime URBAN-15 supporters, and all else interested in coming together in a spirit of festivity. Guests will enjoy an evening filled with food, drinks, and lively entertainment featuring a thrilling live performance by local Latin rock band Los de Esta Noche.
Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate fifty years of creativity and community spirit with us!
