With three seasons all available on hiddenhistories.tv/archives/, URBAN-15’s “Hidden Histories” is a magazine-format video series that pursues and preserves the stories, lives, and places that make San Antonio an inspiring cultural treasure. Thanks to support from the San Antonio Film Commission, the San Antonio Area Foundation, and Humanities Texas, URBAN-15 developed this project to ensure that we memorialize the histories of a region inhabited for over 10,000 years in a way that reflects their diversity and richness. Community-produced media is one way we can broaden and deepen public participation in official histories.
Hidden Histories episodes are available online, free of charge. Each episode highlights archival interviews with community leaders; significant performances by musicians, dancers and poets; interactions with working artists; forgotten documentaries and narrative films, and vintage discussions of important community issues. These segments are supplemented by interviews with field experts from community and university alike.
