Cochineala Nature and Art Series: Bioluminescence

We’re happy to announce our participation in this year’s San Antonio River Foundation Nature and Arts Series: Bioluminescence! In a world premiere work by URBAN-15, “Lights in Play” will be a combination of dance, video, light reflections, and soundscapes.

Join us  Saturday, March 23 at Confluence Park from 6-10pm to celebrate the magic and wonder of the bioluminescent creatures that live among us. Our ensemble will close out the night at 9pm as they dance among the audience in a mimicry of these luminescent night critters.

Wearing lit costumes crafted in-studio by Creative Director Catherine Cisneros, the dance ensemble will manipulate mirrors to reflect video projections onto the magnificent architecture at Confluence. Simultaneously, the percussion ensemble will drum along a four-part suite composed by Music and Media Director George Cisneros entitled “Bioluminescence”. These movements are titled: “Rumba Luz (I)”, “Within the Center of Memory (II)”, “Enle, A tribute (III)”, and “The Fireflies (IV)”.

Frequent partners of the San Antonio River Foundation, URBAN-15 dancers have become a staple at events like the yearly Pollinator Festival, where they can be easily spotted donning their Monarch Wings.
