Josiah Media Festival: Workshops on Live Video & DIY Prosthetics

As part of our annual Josiah Media Festival, URBAN-15 is offering free online filmmaking workshops for middle and high school youth! These workshops are free and can be viewed on our website OR on our Facebook.

On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of November 9-13, join us at 10am and 1pm for two exciting workshops:

  • “Live Cinema: The Basics,” with Erik Bosse. Live cinema allows for real-time editing of projected imagery. The work of the VJ, who projects images during live music events, is one example. These same tools can be used in collaboration with dance, theater, or other art forms. Many media artists also work on their own to essentially create a movie in real-time. The ability to use software to make immediate decisions on what video clip (or other media element) to reveal to the audience at any given moment allows for exciting and spontaneous presentations. Media artist Erik Bosse has worked with theater companies, dance ensembles, and in collaboration with site-specific artists to provide video backdrops and interactive projections.
  • “Advanced Prosthetic Creations,” with Sergio Guerra of The Darkness, a local make-up and special effects production company. Learn tried-and-true face painting basics for creating realistic-looking gore, zombie, and sci-fi makeup effects!

Tune in to learn new insights on craft! Remember, workshops are FREE and can be viewed either on our website or on the URBAN-15 Facebook page.
