Dia de los Muertos “Lanter Release Honoring Loved Ones”
Featuring a Special performance by URBAN-15’s “Carnaval de los Muertos” Dance and Drum ensemble.
This event in honor of our loved ones allows the public to participate in the release of hundreds of illuminated lanterns onto the waters of Elmendorf Lake. Each lantern carries the names of family members or friends who passed within the last year. Lanterns will be available for puchase and assembly on-site.
At 7 p.m. URBAN-15 will begin a procession on the Isle of the lake and move across the bridge onto the old WPA-era dance floor. For ten years, URBAN-15 has utilized the tranquility of the lake and its reflective beauty to stage a ceremonial dance in honor of all our loved ones who have moved onwards to higher levels.
We welcome anyone who needs a more introspective and solemn moment as part of Dia de los Muertos to attend this unique event.
