Carnaval de San Anto is URBAN-15’s original, community-based, energetic, multi-generational, award-winning, “urban tropical,” rhythm-bringing drum and dance performance ensemble. Delivering the rousing carnaval rhythms of samba, merengue, reggae, and cumbia (among others) to appreciative audiences, our flamboyant dancers and drummers evoke the flavor and pageantry of Brazilian and Caribbean revelry to every celebration.

URBAN-15’s Carnaval de San Anto has:

• Performed in the inaugural parades of Presidents Clinton, Bush and Obama
• Performed at the 1999, 2003, 2005 & 2007 Spurs championship celebrations
• Toured internationally throughout Saltillo, Guadalajara, and Monterrey, Mexico
• Performed and awarded in every Fiesta Flambeau Night Parade since 1987
• Performed at San Antonio’s most iconic and memorable events including Luminaria and Jazz S’Alive

When URBAN-15 created Carnaval de San Anto in the fall of 1987, there was nothing like it anywhere in the country. Since then, Carnaval de San Anto has revolutionized community access to music and dance, transformed how San Antonio celebrates, and become a cultural ambassador of this most vibrant city!
